I am about 5 weeks post op. I got my hump taken off and my tip lifted and refined. I am fine with the hump being removed but I can't stand looking at my front profile. I feel like my nose looks too small and lifted and since swelling is still a factor I’m afraid it's only going to get smaller. With a revision can I drop the tip and make it a little rounded and wider again like it used to be? I don't mind not having a swoop or anything like that I just want my old self from the front back.
Answer: Revision Rhinoplasty Hi @laniiii138459. Thank you for sharing your photos. You are still very early on in your healing process. I recommend waiting a full year before considering a revision rhinoplasty. Best of luck, Dr. Nima

Answer: Tip Shape Good Morning! At 5 weeks post op, there will be settling of the tip. Often times, the rotation will come down. I encourage my patients to remember that changes take 6-12 months to finalize. In the meantime, compressions, taping, and steroids can help. During a revision, it is possible to counter-rotate the nose and make the tip less refined. I would continue to follow-up with your surgeon to see how your nose progresses. Hope that helps!

Answer: What to know about your rhinoplasty recovery time Thank you for your question and detailed explanation. Being that your original rhinoplasty was performed less than two months ago, it's too soon to tell if you will truly be dissatisfied with the overall results. Revision rhinoplasty is typically not performed until one-year post-op. If you still find the results unsatisfactory at that time, a revision may be able to widen the nose and lower the tip to your preferences. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon for further suggestions at that time.

Answer: Rhinoplasty tip work Thank you for your question. You're correct that most likely the tip will continue to get slightly smaller as swelling subsides. At this stage it's far too soon to consider revision. Often we have to wait about a year before making any changes. The reasons for this are two-fold. One, we want swelling down completely so it doesn't obstruct underlying anatomy. Two, tissue has to be healed to enough extent so that it is strong enough to sustain a repair. Hope this helps! -Dr. P

Answer: Dropping the ip after a rhinoplasty procedure Thank-you for your question! It is early in the postoperative time and your nose will obviously change over the next several months and you will also get used to the new look of your nose. If after several months you still want to have a more rounded and lower tip, it is usually possible with a cartilage graft. Please be patient for now and follow your rhinoplasty surgeon’s instructi. Al the best!
