I know doctors probably recommend different products and prescribe different creams. In your opinion, what is the best thing one can use and do? I'm getting a breast lift with implants and I want to treat my scars properly 24/7 for optimal results.
Answer: Breast lift scar treatment In addition to keeping the scars protected from the sun (as tanning can permanently darken them), you can try using silicone sheeting and silicone gel. These can be applied once the steristrips have fallen off. However, you should ask your surgeon for their advice.

Answer: Laser treatments combined with melarase creams can help reduce appearance scars. Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Re: What is the best treatment for scars after a Breast Lift? Hello, Thank you for your question. As you are healing from your surgery you will be able to apply various modalities that help obtain the best improvement in your scars.Keep in mind that much of how one heals is pre-programmed by one's genetics. However, with that said, I believe that with the right amount of attention to healing one can play an active role to get well healed scars.I recommend to our patients after the initial three to four weeks when the wound is more stable, a combination of silicone gel sheeting, direct scar massage, sun protection, good nutrition, and no smoking exposure. Over the initial 7 to 9 months healing scars are most amenable to manipulation and softening- this is often referred to as the "remodeling phase" of healing. This is the period, that if attended to daily, one should achieve optimal healing.I hope this helps.Thank you,S.P. Maggi, MD, FACSAustin Plastic Surgery Center

Answer: Scar therapy after breast surgery I don't think that there is any good evidence that one method or therapy is better than any other. Much of your scarring will depend upon your genetics and the tension that the tissues are under due to the technique of your procedure. I personally have my patients apply paper tape to the incisions for the first 4-6 weeks. I think that massage can also help scars soften and mature. The effectiveness of scar creams, gels, sheets, oils, etc. is uncertain.
