What is the best way to get rid of excess facial skin?

Without seeing your pictures or examining you in my
office, it is difficult to say what is contributing to your problem. Sagging in the lower cheek area can be caused
by structural changes and volume loss with age.
You may be a candidate for a facelift with re-volumization (e.g., fat
transfer or dermal filler). A facelift
addresses the lower 1/3 of your face by re-suspending and tightening your underlying
muscle layer. Fat transfer or dermal filler to your midface area can restore
volume to help lift your cheeks and define your jaw line. I recommend that you consult with your local board
certified facial plastic surgeon so that they may customize a treatment plan to
best meet your individual needs.

It depends on your anatomy and facial shape. If you are young with a good facial tone, ultherapy may be a non-surgical option; if your aging process is more advanced, surgical repositioning of the sagging tissue is an alternative procedure.

The best and probably the only way to improve the jowls is a SMAS facelift where the skin is lifted and the tissues underneath are moved up to eliminate the sagging jowls, then the skin is repositioned under very little to no tension. The recovery is a couple of weeks. The operation is done with moderate sedation but under local anesthesia. For significantly drooping skin, nothing works like a facelift. For a patient under 50, often a mini-lift could do the job. There are also a number of non-surgical treatments including Ultherapy that can tighten the jawline and under the neck. Hello, it is difficult to assess your problem without pictures.  Typically, "sagging" skin in the lower cheek and jawline is corrected with a facelift/necklift or rhytidectomy.  Depending on the degree of skin and soft tissue laxity, there are a variety of facelift methods that can be used.  Many times patients in their 40's are candidates for "Mini Facelift" procedures, which offer the patient less downtime, recovery, risk, and cost compared to a traditional facelift.  I would suggest you schedule a consultation with a board certified surgeon to evaluate your options.  Good Luck

Loose skin the lower face may indicate excess skin, a loss of facial volume, or both.  For a young person, we look carefully to see if addition facial volume will restore a more healthy and youthful appearance.  A lower facial lift is also a good option, and not out of the question, even in your 40's.  A facial lift is indicated based on what we see at the examination more than your chronological age.  Young people with unfavorable genetics, weight loss, and sun damage may benefit from a lift.  I would recommend consultation with a knowledgeable, board certified plastic surgeon.

Pictures would be very helpful to give you the best advice, but it sounds as if you might have some jowls that are appearing on your face.  If this is the case, then a facelift might be one option to help.  Sometimes, fillers can also be placed into the cheek area to help lift the lower portion of the face a bit, but surgical lifting with a facelift would normally produce more dramatic changes.

will elevate the tissues that have sagged over the years and will reduce the
excess skin at the same time.There are
other less invasive procedures, but these will yield significantly less

a thorough examination it is difficult to say anything definitively. To get rid
of excess skin around the cheek and jowl area would require a neck and/or
facelift. I recommend that you see a board certified plastic surgeon in
