I recently got this tattoo on my forearm, it's really well done but as soon as it was complete i regreted it completely. Im 18 years old and I've wanted a tattoo for years. A lot of planning went into it (it was not impulse) but i've realised it's just not me. I understand it will take many lazer removal sessions and cost a fair price. It is mainly black and blue, but i've heard these colours respond better to treatment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Gauging by your skin type (from the photo you appear to have a  medium complexion) and ink color, Laser Tattoo removal would give you the best chance at a near complete clearance of the iron oxide tattoo ink present in your skin. The Q-Switched ND;Yag laser, I use a Tri-Lase from Ellman, would be indicated for the blue and black ink. We charge by the inch, and the going rate on Gulf Coast is 100.00 per inch, so in your case that would be roughly 600.00 per treatment with a need for anywhere from 8-9 treatments spaced 8 weeks apart.One new and exciting addition to Laser Tattoo removal is the "R-20" protocol. This will reduce the number of visits that you have to make (often times up to 30-50%). This involves an application of 2nd Skin or a wound healing cream to the site after the laser treatment. After waiting 20 minutes, the laser treatment can be repeated the same day (if your skin can tolerate it). The risks of the procedure include incomplete clearance of the ink, pigment irregularities of the skin, scar formation, and superficial skin infection (rarely seen). Good Luck to you, M.Lyons, MD
