How much will the breast shrink after getting implants?

Question

I am due to have my BA on March 19 and I am still unsure about size. I am a petite woman, 5'0, about 105lbs. I am a small A looking to go to a small C. I'm afraid that because I am so hesitant about being "too big" I will end up getting implants that are small, and then once I am healed the size will look even smaller. I know it may be hard to distinguish but would 275cc make me about a C cup? And how much will I shrink once fully healed?

Unfortunately,
you have not told us your bra size just your cup size.  If you are 32 or 34 each 100 cc’s of implant
corresponds to 1 cup size change.  If you
are 36 or 38 each 200 cc’s of implant corresponds to 1 cup size change.  From this, you can compute the volume
required to achieve your desired goal.  I
always recommend small round textured silicone gel implants placed
retro-pectoral since they look and feel more natural, are more stable, less
likely to ripple or have complications needing revision.  Implant profile is irrelevant in the
retro-pectoral position since the muscle compresses it.  The breasts will not shrink after

When wondering, its best to use external sizers in an unlined bra and realize that 10% usually must be added to that size to give you the look you saw.  The biggest complaint I have had in my career is I wish I went bigger, but understand I live in California.  But when torn between 2 adjacent sizes, always go with the bigger one as the difference is so minimal and will hardly be appreciated.  You could say the same about going with the smaller size but then the 'I wish I went bigger' thoughts come back.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to answer your question especially without pictures. You should have another discussion with your plastic surgeon and undergo either sizing or better yet Vectra 3-D analysis to see what the desired implant size will look like on your body after surgery. I find this very helpful in discussing breast implants sizing with patients for breast augmentation

It is difficult to determine bra cup size based upon implant volume.  A rough guide would be for you to do a baggy test to see if it is what you want.

Unfortunately your questions are impossible to answer. No one can predict how much you will swell nor what cup size you will be. You should go back to your plastic surgeon and re size. What you see with the implants in your bra is fundamentally what you will look like. If 275 looks good to you, then that is the right answer.

Guessing cup size is an exercise I find unhelpful.  There are no fixed standards. I have numerous patients who have bras of three different cup sizes that all fit!If your bra is a 32 band, 275 cc may give about 2 cup sizes of increase.  If a 38, you might achieve only a one cup size increase.My preference is to have my patients try on sizers, and I find that most helpful is choosing size. Typically there is not much swelling after breast implant surgery. Some patients feel otherwise, perhaps because the immediate "shock" of the size change wears off quickly. All the best.

Patients write into Real Self more about sizing that any other issue in breast augmentation but the best format for discussion is with the surgeon you have chosen. You may need to go back to the office for another session with the sizing implants and further discussion before making a commitment as to the volume.

Thank you for your question.  Of course you need an in person examination and a breast implant sizing system evaluation to properly choose the best implant size for you.  That said in my experience implants in the 3 25 cc to 350 cc are required to enlarge and a cup to a full C cup.  Your breasts do not shrink after breast augmentation.  The implants 10 to fall and the fullness of the implant immediately after surgery transfers from above the nipple to beneath and below the nipple.

Your best bet if you are trying to decide is to try on sizers of the exact implant you are considering inside a very tight sports bra. This will give you a close idea of what you will look like after your augmentation. More importantly the dimensions or width of the implants need to match and fit your frame and body.
