I had McGhan style 468 implants on March 29 2002.Never had any problems with them except being very hard.

The plastic surgeon that evaluates your failure can check with
the manufacturer to get the specific details of your warranty. Twelve years
after surgery you will no longer qualify for any financial assistance to help defer
the cost of surgery. The failed implant will be replaced by the manufacturer,
but the contralateral implant will likely not be covered.



With respect to the hardness of your implants, this was either
related to overfilling and/or the development of capsular contracture. Your
surgeon should be able to comment further on this after your examination.

I think that you have to check with the company. Likely back then they guaranteed the implant replacement for a like implant. They probably will not cover basic costs of a surgical facility.

The reimbursement portion of the warranty lasts 5 or 10 years, depending upon whether an enhanced warranty was purchased. At 12 years, you can expect that Allergan (now the owner of McGhan) will provide a new implant to replace the deflated one.  If you choose to switch to silicone implants, they will allow a credit of the cost of the saline toward the cost of silicone.Since this is a recent deflation, it is in your interest to get this resolved as quickly as possible, before the capsule that formed around the implant begins to shrink, making the replacement more difficult, more uncomfortable, and more likely to encounter certain complications. Best wishes. 

The warranties varied, but it is likely to be at least partially covered by your warranty. In my opinion, gel implants should be softer!
