I think it is unlikely that you will find a physician willing to perform IPL or any other laser or technology based treatment if you have been treated with Accutane within the preceding 6 months. This is from both a safety standpoint as well as a liability standpoint
Thank you for your question. Accutane is a photosensitive medication. I would recommend waiting at least 6 months before doing any laser treatments as this can cause burn and/or hyperpigmentation. I hope this helps!
Thanks foryour question – and the legal answer is that you need to wait at least 6months, if not a year, off Accutane before having any laser procedure. From thereality point of view, there is enough now published in the medical literaturethat IPL treatments on Accutane are not going to lead to any untoward effects, but most board-certified dermatologists or plastic surgeons would probably notwant to treat you until at least 6 months off the drug. I hope this helps.
You should not have IPL if you are taking Accutane UNLESS you are seeing the same physician for both and they know exactly what is going on. There are very specific things that can be done so you can safely do both, but it is necessary for your physician to be actively involved in both!
