I have a small wound at the bottom of my lower right breast that needs daily packing (currently not infected). I went to wound care today and nurse says it needs weekly debridement. However, she assures me me that I will be able to swim during my Mexico vacay - in 10 days - if I used a Tegaderm patch. My PS has assured me of this too, but I'm not so sure. It seems really risky and I don't want to put myself at any more risk - this is so stressful! Any thoughts on the patch's effectiveness?

Answer: Tegaderm Patches Allow Swimming in Ocean and Pool
It is impossible to give you advice without a photo and being able to compare sides. You need to be assessed by your PS asap and make sure there is no haematoma. It is usual to have some oozing but a massive bleed usually means a return to theatre.
This scenario is very common and there appears to be no infection of any significance based on your description and the picture. Stop freaking out, but speak to and see your surgeon soon.
All the best,
