Scarring and discoloration issues after breast lift?

Question

I had a lollipop breast lift w/ areola reduction & implants 3 months ago. I know it takes months for scars to settle, however I am having 3 issues: 1) The scarring isn't looking as great or as round on one breast. Isn't this fixable? 2) There is a discoloration of my skin on both breasts right underneath the areolas that looks the same color as my areola. Why did this occur, and can it be fixed? 3) The incision at the bottom of my breasts keeps opening up and oozing (2nd picture). What can I do?

You appear to be still spitting sutures and slow healing, so first step is local wound care till all is healed. The discoloration below your aerola is part of the original aerola that could not be removed with the first procedure without too much tension. You must have had very large aerola preoperatively. Once all is healed the dark areas can be removed and the scars improved with a revision. Good luck.

It appears that you are going through the most difficult part of scar healing which is 1-5 months after surgery. Hypertrophic scars are typical for this period and constant reassurance is frequently needed to help patient pass this challenging period. Constant communication with your surgeon is the best help you can have.

The scars are a bit wide. The discoloration beneath the areola is also from scarring. Give it a bit more time, but eventually I believe you will require a scar revision to fix the issue.All the best,Talmage Raine MD
