Order of Operations?

Question

I went in for a consult for a lower bleph. Since it would be my first plastic surgery, I was thinking of taking a conservative approach and only doing the under eyes at this time, but the surgeon recommended also pairing it with other surgeries including a facelift, if I was going to want them in the future. He said there is always scarring with any procedure so it’s best to take care of everything at once and let everything heal together. Does this make sense to other surgeons?

In our Practice we often combine procedures such as you describe above-provided patient is a good candidate. It is patient's choice to either stage the procedures or do it at the same time .
If you stage the procedures, you will have to obtain clearance and labs again
If you can afford it - we recommend doing facelift and blepharoplasty at the same time
After this combination of procedures- our patients stay overnight for observation-- I suggest that you discuss this option with your Surgeon.

Thanks for sharing your good question. It’s not a good idea to have surgery until it’s needed. Only have the blepharoplasty. Don’t have a facelift until it’s needed. I hope this helps.
