Answer: Addressing Persistent Swelling in the Lady Parts Two Years After Surgery Hello Versatile612409. Thank you for your question regarding the persistent swelling you're experiencing in your lady parts more than two years after your surgery. It’s understandable to be concerned about swelling that has lasted this long, especially in such a sensitive area. While your plastic surgeon mentioned that it’s unlikely for fluid to move below the surgical incision, other possibilities could explain your symptoms. One potential cause could be a lymphatic issue. The lymphatic system is responsible for draining fluid from tissues, and sometimes, after surgery, the lymphatic drainage can be compromised, leading to prolonged swelling in areas such as the pubic region or even the labia. Another possibility is that scar tissue from your surgery could be affecting the local tissues, creating a feeling of tightness or swelling. This scar tissue could potentially constrict normal lymphatic flow or blood circulation, contributing to the persistent swelling you’re experiencing. It’s also possible that there could be an unrelated issue, such as a hernia, an enlarged lymph node, or even a localized infection that might not have been fully addressed. These issues could contribute to the discomfort and swelling you’ve been feeling. Given that the swelling has persisted for over two years, I recommend seeking a second opinion from another board-certified plastic surgeon or a specialist in women’s health. They can perform a thorough examination, possibly including imaging studies like an ultrasound, to get to the root of the issue. This approach will help ensure you receive the appropriate treatment and peace of mind. I hope this helps answer your question regarding the persistent swelling you're experiencing. Sincerely, J. Answer: Surgery The lymphatics in that area could have been obstructed from the horizontal scar. You could try lymphatic massage. If this does not improve, then a labioplasty could be helpful to trim the excess.

Answer: Swelling Dear Versatile612409, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Two years post op It would be uncommon for new issues to arise two years plus after surgery. Since you have been to your surgeon for an evaluation the next step would be to visit with your gynecologist or whomever you see for reproductive health.
