Scalp micropigmentation can help in areas where hair is sparse, but already present. It can help create the appearance of greater density, especially for individuals with fair skin and dark colored hair. It should not be regarded as an alternative to a hair transplant, especially in the front where the inked areas would extend past the border of existing hair. Due to the differences in texture, the use of pigment would be quite obvious to others. And it would also look very unnatural. From the experience of my clinic, patients who had undergone SMP to compensate for baldness often felt very self conscious about their results, avoiding close contact with others and shying away from bright lights. Hairline restoration surgery is more likely to produce desired results.
