How long should each session take and is it a must to have 2 sessions?

It’s not a requirement to have 2 sessions of MiraDry. The average improvement after single treatment of miraDry is around 70%. Majority of our patients are satisfied with single session. About 15 to 20% of our patients will elect to have a 2nd session even with significant improvement. We like to use maximal treatment level each time in order to achieve maximal result. The treatment takes about 25 to 30 minutes for each axilla so total treatment time is about one hour for both side. The name of the treatment is not as critical as to the treatment setting and our goal is to achieve significant (50% and higher) improvement after each treatment session. Sincerely,

We have found that almost all patients are satisfied with just a single treatment. A single treatment will not completely eliminate every drop of sweat, but it will make the armpits significantly drier than with the use of any anti-perspirant. I have had the treatment myself and have had 2 treatments. I had the 2 treatments to try and experience for myself the difference between 1 and 2 treatments. I would estimate that the 1st treatment eliminated more than 90% of my sweating. The second treatment eliminated another 7-8%. I would have been more than satisfied with just a single treatment, but could tell additional improvement with the second. The total time for a treatment on both armpits should take about 1 hour total (treatment time + local anesthesia). We treat all of our patients with complete local anesthesia of the armpits with the max settings on the Miradry machine. 

We can have the miraDry treatment done in just over an hour when the sweat test is performed the same day as the treatment. Some patents take longer to produce sweat while others are immediate making is difficult to offer an exact time frame. The size of the individuals armpits also makes a difference in the time needed to complete the procedure.   
Not everyone will need a second treatment. One miraDry procedure will only reduce up to 80% of underarm sweat, odor and hair. Often patients are pleased with only 1 treatment while others want or need a second treatment.

 Treatment times vary based on how quickly the doctor can inject the numbing agent and how large your sweat producing areas are. For instance, I can do a petite woman in about 15-20 mins each side once she is numb but a large man with large hair/sweat producing area may take twice that long. I typically schedule 90 mins for total visit time for Miradry patients, about 85% of our patients only get 1 treatment, 10-15% get 2 and rarely do we do 3- 3 is always someone who had very very heavy sweating, 

In the olden days, the company recommended 2 treatments for everyone, spaced 3 months apart. This is based on the way the studies were done when they first tested the device. Patients got an additional 20% improvement by doing a second session and it was deemed worthwhile hence to do so. About three years ago the company reworked the messaging — everyone should be given a choice to do the second session... or not. I find that heavy sweaters need 2! Patients with mild sweating issues may end up satisfied having only one session, and opt out of the second one. The strength of the treatment is based on 2 things: first, the LEVEL (levels 1-5, 5 is the highest) and, second, the NUMBER OF ZAPS (based on the doctor’s Measurement of your armpit size). Bottom line, to maximize the results you need to be at a 5 with a nice generously marked AREA. Skipping the edges will result in a perceived ring of sweat; you have to do this right and results can be life changing.  

Hello, great question! Each patient is unique in regards to treatment time and whether they will need more than one session or not. A majority of our patients require only one treatment and are completely satisfied with results. Sometimes, patients who have more excessive sweating want to be completely bone-dry and will come back in for a second treatment session. It is totally patient dependent. In regards to the time, it usually takes anywhere from 1-2 hrs of time from consultation, setting up, anesthetizing the area, and then the actual treatment. The size of the template we use dictates the amount of time, which is different for each patient dependent on the surface area of the underarm.
