Hi I had the miraDry procedure done over 14 weeks ago and about 7-8 weeks after I’ve been having these tight fibrous bands which is still painful, under both armpits and running down the back of the arms. I’ve gone back several times to the Dermatologist office and they have prescribed a round of prednisone twice. The doctor says she doesn’t understand why this is happening. Why is this happening and what can I do about it. I’m beginning to get a little worried after 14 weeks....

Hello,Thank you for your question and photo. Banding and nodules are actually a very common side effect from MiraDry. Although it is unknown what causes it, the best treatment is to massage the area firmly multiple times a day and make sure to do range of motion exercises with the arm until the banding is completely resolved. This can take anywhere from 1-2 months to go away depending on the severity of the banding. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for your question. These bands do sometimes appear. They can feel tight or uncomfortable at times. They will resolve on their own without any treatment except for massage. I recommend daily massaging along the bands. The steroids will not help and I don’t not recommend them. They typically occur in our thinner patients. It will take 3-6 months for them to fully resolve. The bands aside , I hope you are happy with your Miradry treatment as our patients have found resolution with both sweat and odor.
