Hi, ive gone through buccal fat surgery 2days ago, the swelling reduced but not that much so i cannot go out without mask- how can i accelerate the recovery process & get rid of swelling

Swelling post buccal fat removal depends on the patient's ability to heal. In my practice 90% of the patients develop minimal swelling after the procedure. However 10% of the patients swell a lot and the swelling lasts for up to 5 days.In my practice I recommend my patients to avoid exercising for 2 weeks and ice their cheeks for at least 24 horus post buccal fat removal. If the swelling persist, they should apply ice packs to the cheeks as much as they can until the swelling resolves.

There is not a whole lot you can do to get rid of swelling more quickly after surgery. It is your body's natural healing response and should continue to improve significantly over the next 1-2 weeks. However, sleeping in a recliner or with your head propped up on a few pillows can help the fluid drain out of your face more easily, and may cause your swelling to go away more rapidly.
