How do you treat hematoma after chin implant? (Photo)

Question

A week after infra orally chin implant and the large ( golf like) hematoma on both sides of the chin (and above chin) is still present. My ps suggested to waitfor a month. I am afraid that it may form mass or lumps and tissue. Shouldn't we drain both sides?

It is not possible to tell if you have a hematoma, after placement of your chin implant, with just a picture.  A physical exam would be needed to determine if there is fluid causing the swelling or not.  If you have swelling without fluid, then it would be best to just wait for the swelling to improve.  If there is a fluid build up, then this usually would be treated with drainage.

Hi, I have performed many chin implant surgeries over the past 30 years.  I am sorry to hear that you had an issue with your Chin Implant Surgery.  As a fresh post op patient you really should be seen, treated and follow the advice of your Chin Implant Surgeon.  If for some reason that is no longer an option, ask your GP or find another facial plastic or general plastic surgeon in your area to get a second opinion.  In any case, please continue to seek treatment if you have concerns following your surgery.Hope this helps.
