Teeth whitening, with chipped and repaired tooth?

I want to get zoom teeth whitening, but my front tooth was chipped and repaired, you can't tell the difference now, but what will happen if I get tooth whitening? will the repaired place whiten along with the tooth?

The bonding on your tooth will not lighten with whitening.  If you whiten, you may have to have the composite bonding redone.  Be prepared to redo the restoration.  If it is a small repair, the bonding may blend in after whitening.  When you whiten, the teeth get a bit dehydrated so the color will be a bit whiter.  It takes about 5 days to rehydrate.  This is the color the teeth will stay for a period of time.

Unfortunately there is no way to whiten bonded tooth structure aside from removal and replacement of bonding.I prefer to wait two weeks after whitening patients Teeth to evaluate the need to replace existing bonding and to match the shade with aesthetic bonding material.  The two weeks alow the teeth to naturally rehydrate and for the stark whiteness that is seen after whitening to "calm" down to where the true result shade will be.

Zoom is a high concentration hydrogen peroxide gel that lifts stain out of natural tooth structure, but does not change the color of dental restorations like bonding, veneers, or crowns.  You should Zoom first, then wait a week for the color to settle, then change the bonding to match your new tooth color.  Good Luck!

No. the repaired part will not whiten along with the tooth. Whitening gels act only on natural teeth. My advise is to go ahead with the whitening, if the tooth has been repaired with a composite filling and there's a big mismatch between the color of the filling and the whitened teeth, then the filling will have to replaced.

If your tooth was repaired with a filling (composite), the filling will not be any whiter - only your natural tooth structure will become whiter.  However, after tooth whitening, you can replace the filling with a new filling to match your whiter teeth.If your tooth was repaired with a veneer or crown, the entire tooth will not be any whiter.  The whitening process does not affect veneers or crowns.  The teeth next to the repaired tooth will become whiter, as long as those teeth are your natural teeth and have not been veneered or crowned.  You can replace the veneer or crown after tooth whitening with a new veneer or crown to match your whiter teeth, but it is a more involved process than replacing a filling.
