Teeth Cleaning the Day Before Rhinoplasty..safe?

I am getting a rhinoplasty and septoplasty done in a week and the day before I have an appointment with my dentist for teeth cleaning. Is this going to affect my surgery? Should I cancel my dentist appointment?

Peptostreptococcus, Propionibacterium might be troublesome after facial surgery.

Great rhinoplasty question.  And the simple answer is that we don't actually know the right answer.  We do know that the anaerobic bacteria found around the teeth & gums are particularly nasty (causing human bites to be much worse than dog bites), and that these bacteria are introduced into the blood stream after dental work.  There is also a body of evidence that states that autologous tissue transfer (like fat injections) into your face should not be performed just before or just after dental work, and some surgeons say you should not have fat injections either 1 month before OR after dental work!

Rhinoplasty is a little different, but perhaps not that different if your surgeon is doing  autologous grafting with cartilage from your septum (and especially if your surgeon is using an artificial graft like silicone or Medpor).  To be safest until we know definitively, I tell my patients no dental work 2 weeks before or after rhinoplasty.

Dental Cleaning prior to Rhinoplasty

There should be no problem with a dental cleaning one day prior to having a rhinoplasty.

Teeth Cleaning Before Rhinoplasty

There is no concern about having your teeth cleaned the day before your rhinoplasty. That would have no negative impact at all on your surgery.

Teeth Cleaning the Day Before Rhinoplasty..safe?

Ask the plastic and cosmetic surgeon that's going to perform your Rhinoplasty his/her advice on the matter.  I wouldn't have an issue but you need to ask your Rhinoplasty Surgeon.

Teeth Cleaning Before Rhinoplasty

So long as you will not be taking medication or be placed under anesthesia, the teeth cleaning you have scheduled on the day before your rhinoplasty should pose no concern. The two procedures are uncorrelated, and you should rest assured that the results of your nose job will not be compromised by the dental work you are planning.

Teeth cleaning day before rhinoplasty is okay

It is certainly acceptable to undergo teeth cleaning a day or two prior to your rhinoplasty procedure.  It should not affect your surgery.

Teeth cleaning before rhinoplasty

Having your teeth cleaned one day prior to surgery will not have any impact on your scheduled procedure.  As long as you avoid taking any restricted medications which may be associated with more invasive dental work, everything should be fine. Thank you and best of luck.

We have no issue with teeth cleaning before rhinoplasty

Cleaning your teeth one day before a rhinoplasty should not be an issue, and infection in rhinoplasty is very uncommon.
