What technique can be used to correct grade 3 inverted nipples? (Photos)

Question

I had inverted nipple correction on grade 3 nipples and BA done 5 weeks ago. My doctor says he spread the ducts a lot, used a filler and added stitches. However, immediately following surgery they were still inverted. He claims there wasn’t enough tissue underneath to hold them out. I’ve been using a nipplette suction device and it takes out the entire nipple but once I remove it, they sink back in. What technique can be used to keep them out? Thank you!

Thanks for posting your pictures of your inverted nipples. At times, this condition can be stubborn  and recur despite best effort.     In any event, in my practice  , the solution for situations like yours is to cut the nipples' ducts, since they are short and pull the nipples in. When this is done, a cavity is formed at the base of the nipples, which I fill with breast tissue , to stabilize the nipples. I also place U shape permanent sutures at the base of the nipples, again, to stabilize the nipples and prevent the collapse of the inserted breast tissue. It seems to work in my hands most of the times.                        Best of luck,                                            Dr Widder

You can use a HA filler to see if they pop out and stay out.  You can also do a nipple piercing (which we can do in the office) along with fat grafting later also.  Lots of good options!

The inverted nipple is produced by tightness and shortness of the milk ducts. In my practice to resolve cases like these, we would use a technique to evert the nipple by stretching the milk ducts which would then pull on the nipple. Another technique would be to divide the milk ducts by making an incision that would prevent the milk ducts from pulling the nipple inwards, however this procedure unlike the stretching technique, may prevent you from being able to breastfeed.

I am sorry to hear about the problem you are experiencing after surgery to correct inverted nipples. In my practice, correction of the inverted nipples involve division of the lactiferous (milk ducts).  Best wishes.
