Can my tummy tuck incision be extended to get rid of saggy skin? (Photo)

Hi NatyMiami,Absolutely possible.If you have residual excess skin and fat in the flanks and lower back after a tummy tuck, it is still possible to remove. Talk with your surgeon about a prone (face down) approach that continues your tummy tuck scar around to the lower back. Depending on your anatomy and area of skin excess, your scar may or may not meet in the midline in the back. From your photos it appears some minor skin excision and potentially liposuction will address your concerns. I encourage you to return to your surgeon or another board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation. Depending on the extent of the procedures they may be able to be done under local anesthesia.

Ideally skin excision should be designed in a way so that the torso looks good from all angles.
Some people need a more extended version of the procedure if they have skin laxity on the sides or back.
If this was not addressed during the primary procedure then having a revision for extending the excision is a good idea.
Typically the recovery for skin only surgery is substantially easier than the primary procedure which most likely involved muscle tightening.
Follow up with the surgeon who did your procedure or have consults with other providers in your community.
Make sure you have a clear understanding of just how far the surgeon is going to extend the procedure to make sure you don’t find yourself in the same situation again.
