Are the lumps under my skin the cause for the extra dimples on my thighs after Cellfina, and is it normal to still have them?

I had cellfina first done at the beginning of December. 2 months later I was very unhappy with the results and therefore I had it done again. It has been over 4 months and I still have hard lumps under my skin. I don’t know if it’s the hard lumps under my skin that creates the dimples I’m seeing on my thighs because it almost looks like one of my thighs are worse off than before the procedure. I just don’t know what to do anymore.

Thank you for your question.  Cellfina is very effective a releasing bands causing cellulite but does cause some injury to the tissues and initiate a healing inflammatory response that will lead to lumps and bumps and even some discoloration that can last for several months, it will gradually resolve but the length of time varies considerably from person to person even up to a year.  Though it would be unusual to have visible lumps after 6 months there will likely still be some palpable ones.  Massage will likely speed the resolution of the lumps a little.Jeffrey Thaxton, MD FACSCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Cellfina is a great treatment for the dimples of cellulite, especially on the buttocks.  One interesting thing about it is that the results continue to improve over many months. The minimally invasive nature of the procedure produces minor trauma under the skin and the body responds with inflammation and in turn collagen formation.  This process can (and often does) result in lumps that you can feel weeks after treatment.  These always resolve and signal that continuing collagen formation is occurring leading to better results. Of course there is  no substitute for following up with your physician to assess and reassure that things are progressing as desired.
