How soon can I fly after inner thigh lipo?

I'm interested in getting lipo done to just my inner thigh area but have a few plans in place this year coming my way that will require flying. The procedure would be done under sedation rather than general anesthesia. How soon can I go on a 3 hour flight? Would 5~7 days post op be enough before flying?

For a small inner-thigh liposuction procedure, a short 3-hour flight at 5 to 7 days may be reasonable for some low-risk patients, but this should be cleared by your surgeon. The issue is less about sedation versus general anesthesia and more about swelling, bruising, comfort, mobility, and your individual risk for blood clots.

If you do fly early, your surgeon may want you walking frequently, staying well hydrated, wearing compression as directed, and avoiding long periods of sitting still. If you have a history of blood clots, smoking, hormone therapy, significant swelling, calf pain, shortness of breath, or any other risk factor, the timing may need to be later. Build a little flexibility into your schedule so you are not forced to travel before your surgeon feels it is safe.

The main concerns are swelling and DVT risk, so wear your compression garment, stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, and walk the aisle every 45–60 minutes. If your recovery is uncomplicated at your one-week check, flying should be safe.
