Most patients tell me that and abdominoplasty is much less painful than a C-section. I have not asked about and abdominoplasty compared to removal of an ovary. Nevertheless, most patients need narcotics for only a day or so after the procedure.

An abdominoplasty is usually less painful than any open procedure in the abdomen - ie C section, hysterectomy, BSO. Laparoscopic procedures are much less painful than open procedures in the abdomen. Generally an abdominoplasty procedure is well tolerated. The most painful part is the abdominal wall rejuvenation. The key is limit the trauma to the muscles when repairing the abdominal wall and as long is this is the case recovery is usually very quick.

I know many women who have found childbirth not particularly painful and yet if you ask most mature women what their worst pain ever was, most would say childbirth.On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst pain you've experienced (and as stated above, that means usually childbirth for most women) then the average pain from a Tummy Tuck is usually between 2-4 according to majority of my patients. The reason for the pain is because we "lace-up" the muscles to make the tummy and trim and taught, which also gives you a nicer waistline too.Hope this helps.
