I am 2 weeks today and doing really well. Before surgery I wold ride every week. However I know I am to strong enough to do that. I am really keen to be a passenger on the back with my husband. The bike is very comfortable and has a back rest. It is set up for touring. So comfortable I fall asleep on the back often! My PS hates Bikes I I know his answer would be , well , never. Lol.

Answer: Activity after tummy tuck Not all tummy tucks are the same and therefore recovery will vary from individual to individual. Two weeks seems too early to be doing anything other than recovering so I am guessing regardless of what type of tummy tuck you may want to wait longer prior to being active in any unnecessary way. Your plastic surgeon, whether he likes bikes or not, would be the best person to guide you on this process. If he says that it is too early to ride a stationary bike its likely too early to be riding on the back of a motorcycle. All the best,Dr. Remus Repta

Answer: Passenger While your PS may say "never," that's probably not realistic, so I would encourage you to press them for a real response. Riding on a motorcycle, even as a passenger, does require some core strength, and may be a test for your abs. Your surgeon will know how much work was performed tightening and plicating your anterior abdominal muscles, and consequently, they will be the best person to make a recommendation. Having said that, many patients are back to most physical activities by 6 weeks after surgery. I always caution my patients then when they resume more strenuous activities, they should "listen to their body" and use discomfort as a guide.
