I have had a consultation for Kybella for a rather small fat pocket under chin. The doctor advised I would likely need 1 treatment with 2 vials. My question is, would the treatment be more effective, 2 smaller dose, or one large dose: 2 treatments - 1 vial each treatment 1 treatment - 2 vials at once Many thanks

For very small areas, one vial should suffice.  I think you would have a better result with 1 vial for each session spaced 2 months apart.

Thank you for your question. The treatment plan is unique for each individual. Two to four Kybella treatments are typically required for optimal results. Most patients see results after only two treatments, but the outcome depends on the severity of submental fat. Always consult with board certified facial plastic surgeons who are experienced injectors.

This is difficult to answer without pictures and needs an in-person evaluation. Kybella is good for dissolving fat under the chin, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options.  I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is an alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Honestly, without assessing you in person, it is impossible to say. In general, I rarely use less than 2 vials on a patient. You might want to get a second in person opinion from another experienced injector in your neighborhood and see if the recommendations line up.

Thank you for your question.  It's difficult to make exact recommendations without assessing you in-person, or at least reviewing your photos.  That said, generally speaking, I find that many injectors have a tendency to underdose Kybella, either to reduce the potential for swelling or to reduce treatment costs.  I find that this often leads to less than satisfactory results, and requires more treatments overall.  As a result, I generally prefer to use higher doses per treatment (often 3+ vials per session).  Keep in mind that most patients will need 2-4 treatment sessions for best results, and that it took up to 6 sessions in the initial scientific studies.  Best of luck!

Thanks for your question. Response to Kybella is variable. Most people need 2-4 treatments, but some may need up to 6. Each treatment is usually 2 vials. I would never tell someone they would only need 1 treatment of 2 vials-- even small fat pads usually require more than that. I counsel my patients to be open to the possibility they will need more than average, or they may be disappointed.

the first and thus-far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment for
the double chin. It is difficult to make an assessment without photographs. However I recommend that my patients have 2-4 treatments. At each treatment we use 2-3 vials. I space treatments every 3 months. Results are seen slowly over time. Patience is important. Please

Much like Dr Emer, I do believe for the best results in non-invasive contouring, you do need someone to assess you and give you the 'total' picture, rather than just injections. Why? For example, if your small fat pocket of fat fits in the Coolsculpting MINI applicator, this can give you equally good results, but cost 3 times less, has no downtime, minimal swelling, and is virtually painless. I do use Belkyra, but for contouring of smaller pockets of fat. Once fat dissolves you maybe left with loose skin (think of deflation of say an orange- with the decrease of volume, skin laxity maybe present). Hence the logic behind devices such as Thermage, Ultherapy and other RF devices. As for your specific question, be guided by your Specialist as he or she would know what is best for your profile.
