Can you take Finasteride and Saw Palmetto together?

My questions is can saw palmetto be taken together with finasteride and if so will the saw palmetto lower/weaken the strength of the finasteride - ( for hair loss) i am aware taking saw pamletto is probably not necessary or not effective but will it interact with the finasteride? Thank you

You can combine saw palmetto and finasteride. it will not interact with finasteride. I usually advise my patients saw palmetto when they do not want to take finasteride because of the side effects.

In my opinion, Saw Palmetto is a weak DHT reductase blocker. Some sources discount its Effectiveness altogether. Finasteride is a strong Blocker of DHT reductase and very effective for androgenic Alopecia especially in males. There is no contraindication to using both at the same time. There is little advantage of using both at the same time.

No, there are no interactions. Saw palmetto can be used with finasteride. One needs to monitor for the rare possibility of additive antiandrogen side effects like mood changes and sexual dysfunction.
