Filler to mental crease is affecting speech and movement of mouth. Is this normal?

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to make an accurate assessment and recommendations based on photographs alone. I recommend you contact your provider and possibly seek re-evaluation where they can discuss with you the best management options. If you have experienced a good amount of swelling since the procedure, this may be having an impact on your lower lip. I recommend you continuing icing and head elevation over the next few days. It will take up to two weeks for the filler effect to settle out.

Thank you for sharing your question. You can have excessive swelling at 3 days which will resolve. If you still have the problem at one week post treatment, see you doctor to dissolve the product.Good luck,

Although this treatment has some great benefits in terms of providing support to the lower lip and improving the contour of the lower face, the mental crease is unfortunately an area which is often associated with more post-treatment swelling the other areas of the face. As a result of swelling in this area, it will restrict the degree of movement of the mouth in the initial post-treatment phase. The good news is that this usually settles within 3-5 days post-treatment. However, if the swelling increases or you still feel a degree of restriction after 2-4 weeks, you should contact your original injector for them to assess this and discuss your options to rectify. 

There could be a few reasons for your symptoms.
1. Filler has migrated into the muscle
2. The amount of filler has been too much for you
3. There is swelling in the area
Swelling will settle within 2 weeks. If symptoms are worsening or not improving, you should return to your practitioner and they may want to dissolve some of the filler if needed.
