Hi, I'm a famale 31 years of age, I have dense breast tissue due to hormonal changes from contraceptive pills. I was told by my doctor that it increases the risk of cancer and it's better to remove partial of it.and I'm also willing to get breast implants. Is it possible to reduce the dense tissue is at the same time of having the breast implants?

Answer: Breast augmentation Hi Maryam Dense breast tissue does not in and of itself lead to breast cancer - so that statement is misleading. It can make breast cancer detection more difficult so often you would need an MRI as well as a mammogram and ultrasound but this would only be if you were high risk. Removing part of the breast tissue to reduce breast cancer is nonsense. The only way would be to have a double mastectomy which is almost certainly not recommended for you. It is not safe to do a breast reduction (ie remove significant parts of the breast tissue) at the same time as having an augment. Regards Damien

Answer: Breasts Yes, you can have a partial mastectomy, if you prefer, but dense tissue alone does not increase your risk of breast cancer. Plus, adding an implant will help spread out your own tissue and be less dense. Over time, as we age and with hormonal changes, our breasts naturally become less dense. I would avoid a mastectomy unless you are at high risk for breast cancer.
