I'm a 20 year old Asian male with asymmetric eyelids. Is it possible to make the eyelids look exactly the same? If I'm thinking of making both double-lid (so not touching my right eye and only modifying the left), what sort of surgery am I looking at, and is it possible to make the left look exactly like my right?

Hello!"Exactly the same" may be difficult to achieve since most bilateral structures are typically not exactly the same.  However, it is possible to give you more symmetry by creating a pretarsal crease + possibly ptosis repair on the left eyelid to match your right eyelid. No two eyes, ears and breasts are the same. Making them exactly the same is often a very very difficult task indeed but what is more important is the overall balance and harmony. Often having both eyes operated on is a better solution and possibly get more of a result you desire.

Hi there. Greetings from the UK. Yes of course. You'd be after double eyelid surgery only to your left upper eyelid. Things to say: if anything it makes a lot of the surgical planning a bit simpler for the surgeon as all we need to do is give you a new right upper eyelid surgical crease with a configuration to match the dominant natural crease of the left and then ablating any accessory creases on the right to make it look tidier. My advice though is to see an oculoplastic surgeon ideally who can demonstrate that they've done this sort of case before as it need to be fairly precise work, be minimally invasive. I would recommend an incisional technique for my patients, forming new crease only with no skin excision. Good luck and best wishes. David
