Swelling in areolas after breast lift/augmentation with areola reduction.

I had a breast lift and augmentation with areola reduction 5 weeks ago. 1 week ago my areolas became very swollen and are still this way. They look like cones on the end of my breast. Why did this happen and will they flatten out?

You look much more symmetrical than pre-op.  In your posted photo, you are not standing straight and that makes the post-op photo look more asymmetrical.  Best,

Did you have an axillary incision?  If so, it could be due to lymphedema.  An unusual RSD could also be possible (but unlikely).  It sounds like a DVT has been worked-up already.  Ask your PS to re-examine you and perhaps recommend a referral to a plastic surgeon with...

Yes you can, some surgeons will prefer to stage the operation to reduce the complciations but it can be done in one stage as long as the patient understands the risks and benefits

A cc is a cubic centimeter or a ml (milliliter).  As a visual you will understand: one ounce is about 30 cc's.This is the same volume as a shot glass or 2 tablespoons.
