Swelling in areolas after breast lift/augmentation with areola reduction.

Question

I had a breast lift and augmentation with areola reduction 5 weeks ago. 1 week ago my areolas became very swollen and are still this way. They look like cones on the end of my breast. Why did this happen and will they flatten out?

A lot of this is due to swelling which can
cause the ducts to be swollen shut causing a back up in the system if you will.
It takes time for everything to go back to normal and the nipples should settle
around 3 months

I always tell my patients that there nipple and areolas will be swollen after surgery, this is because the implant is pushing on them and the ducts get clogged from swelling, with time everything settles
