Does saline spray effect your end result on a FUE? 2 days post-op.

Question

I'm from Sweden and i'm post 2 days after a fue made here in Sweden and just wonder one thing. My doctor Didn't give me No saline spray for the aftercare. Only careful Washing from the third day with 2 different schampos/sprays. Will that make my result worse? Im Very worried and would really appreciate your answers. Thank you.

Although saline can have some beneficial effects on wound healing the lack of it should not effect your results.It is important however to follow the instructions for proper daily hairwashing.

There is no proof that saline spray Helps the hair growth. If you use the aftercare products that your doctor gave you that would be enough.

Washing hair after a transplantation
Washing your hair after a hair transplantation is an important to survival.  We usually have our patients start spraying hair with lactated ringers with liposomal ATP as well as other growth factors twice a day to help your hair process start ASAP.  Actual hair washing usually takes place several days after the procedure.  There are several advantages to this approach:
Healing improved
Decreased inflammation and redness
Improved blood supply and uptake

That wont affect the result of HT ...You may start to wash your transplant area at second day of surgery with care and massage the transplant area gently so the scabs will fall off... After two weeks of hair transplantation  it is acceptable  to wash hairs as normal /preoperative period of surgery. All scabs should be cleaned with pressured (not gentle) massage to transplant area  after 2 weeks .Dont forget that you may wash your head with normal pressure and if you need you can use a wet towel with soap for massage the scabby area, it Works very well to remove scabs .Patient may feel free to loosen any scabs on his/her head by massaging and that will not  damage the grafts after 2 weeks .

Hair transplants are fine with or without the saline spray post op. However with saline spray helps healing as well as helps with itchiness.

The recipient area requires daily washes as well to keep the recipient area free of crusts. I generally recommend the use of a sponge and supply my patient with a surgical sponge to fill with soapy water and press on the recipient area daily. By repeating this daily, all crusts can be washed off without any fear of losing grafts. IF any crust is present, use a Q tip and dip it into soapy water, and roll it on the crusts and that will lift them off without dislodging them, but never rub them, just roll the Q tip on the recipient crust. I like to see no evidence of any crusting in the recipient area and the crusts from the donor area gone in 3-4 days with daily washing. To get the crusting off, you need to leave the shampoo on your hair for 10 minutes and as the crust become water logged, then will come off with gentle finger action. Repeat this twice a day until it is all gone.
