Hi, I started to getting bothered by the sparse hair at my left edge. I took small dosis of accutane or oily skin last year for oily skin (4months 40mg/day) and had been stressed. Now I feel like the left hair edge got a little sparse. I was thinking in trying PRP or going for a really small FUE (my hair is curly, and I like to shave it short sometimes like in the photo, would I be a good candidate or should I try PRP first?). Im 28y now, I posted some pictures of the progress. Thank you!
Answer: Small FUE vs. PRP Great question and it brings an important point. Accutane dries up the little pilo-sebaceous units in our skin - thats why it is so good for cystic acne, etc. But because it does so, it is very hard for our skin to heal as it needs those pilo-sebaceous units to undergo the healing process. One of the main reasons why we won't do soft tissue surgery on patients who have recently been on accutane. An effect of this is that it also affects the sebaceous unit of the hair follicle - likely why you saw some changes. Before doing any transplant, you want to make sure you give your hair and scalp are back to normal from a healing standpoint. Most docs will tell you to wait a year since you were finished with accutane prior to doing any procedure. PRP may not be a bad start, along with a laser cap and possibly a neutraceutical like nutrafol or viviscal. Give your scalp and hair the best chance at bouncing back on its own. I hope some of this helps.

Answer: Comparison I see that you do not need a big operation. You can try PRP sessions and at the same time if you start using finasteride, than you mıght not need hair transplant.

Answer: Hair loss related to stress You might try a conservative approach first by that I mean medication ie finaseride or Rogaine. After having used Accutane you should wait a full year before you consider undergoing a hair transplant. Stress may also cause hair loss (telogen effluvium). However here, once you manage to alleviate the stress, the hair that was lost as a result usually returns within 6 to 8 months. PRP in terms a hair growth....the jury is still out meaning, that there have been no reputable large double-blind placebo controlled trials to evaluate efficacy.
