Is one session of Sculptra enough?

The amount of Sculptra injected varies as younger patients may only need one injection session whereas some patients who are much older and have extreme volume loss may need 6 or more injection sessions. Optimal improvement appears gradually so to maintain a natural facial appearance, it is important to slowly add the product. Seek a an expert who will assess your individual situation and come up with a treatment plan specific to you! With that said, by age 40, I would think you need 3 to 4 sessions to truly volumize the face. As a general rule of thumb, 1 vial per decade is usually needed. Then to maintain results, I suggest 1 vial per year. The product itself lasts 2 years or longer, but because of ongoing aging, many patients prefer to keep the result fresh with these yearly treatments.

Sculptra brand filler works by slowly stimulating one's tissues to produce collagen.  Usually a series of injectable sessions each using a measured amount of Sculptra is the preferred and most predictable strategy. And the safest ( as opposed to putting a lot in all at once).  Sculptra has a cool name since it requires a sculpting artistic skill set.  Some people require more sessions, and as we age there are usually more volume-loss lissues.  

It would be very unusual for one Scuptra treatment session to give the desired results in a patient, but it is possible.  In most cases, it would more likely be 2-4 sessions that would be needed.  Depending on the severity at the starting point, it is even possible that more sessions would be needed.  

Sculptra is Poly-L- Lactic Acid injections, designed to treat hallow cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds, and as of recently buttock volume. It works by stimulating collagen production in the dermis to create more volume overtime.

We typically start by injecting 4 vials and have the patient retreat monthly until we achieve desired volume. Results can last up to 2 years but is recommended to retreat annually to preserve results.

Sculptra facial rejuvenation typically requires multiple session in which vials of Sculptra are administered.  The number of vials required for optimal results varies from patient to patient.  Some patients make need three vials whereas other patients may require six vials.

Most people at the age of 40 would benefit from multiple vials of Sculptra.  A single vial will certainly help, but it will be a very subtle change.  Once your facial volume is optimized, then I would expect it to last for about 2 years.  Re-injecting in 1 year would be fine and less volume would be required at this interval.  I think Sculptra is a great filler and does a very nice job of volume restoration.  I prefer to provide optimal correction even if that means more vials.  This results in happier patients.
