Hello, just under a year ago I had the blepharoplasty on my lower lids done by laser. I realize that throughout the day my eyes seem to looks sunken in. However in the morning when I wake up my eyes look perfectly normal with out the bags underneath and my upper lids look full and perfect, I am not sure if I'm still healing or I have a problem here??? Help
Answer: Treatment of sunken eyelids As we age, we can lose fatty tissue around the eye, causing a sunken in appearance. Fillers may be placed in the lower eyelid to mask the problem with usually good results. However, many fillers need to be repeated over time (ranging from nine months to two years). Fat injections, which can be more permanent, can also yield successful results. I hope you find this helpful.

Answer: The instrument used to conduct the blepharoplasty is immaterial. Lower blepharoplasty can cause hollowing to the lower eyelid. This is a very common outcome unless specific steps are take to avoid this result. Less is more. At a year out from surgery, you are healed from surgery. If the result is not to your liking, it is reasonable to see what you can do to make the situation better if you are not happy with it. For many, many individuals, the answer is to have some fillers placed judiciously back into the lower eyelid. The preferred material for this is Restylane. It is very helpful if you find a very experienced injector to do you treatment.

Answer: Sunken eyes post blepharoplasty Did you have fat removed during the blepharoplasty? If so you may now be volume deficient. When you lie down at night, fluid will accumulate in the fat around the eyes so your lids will look smooth. Similarly before the surgery, you may have noticed that the "bags" were worse in the morning. During the day, the fluid will decrease in the fat, and the fat you have will be less pronounced. So you may look hollow. You may want to try some filler to the lower eyelid and see how you do with that.

Answer: Sunken eyes If you are a year out from surgery, then your eyelids should generally be fully healed. You should talk to your surgeon if your appearance is best in the mornings and worsens as the day goes on. Being recumbent at night does cause some pooling of fluid under the eyes.
