Do I need to stop using Tri-Luma cream if I decide to get Botox?

Do I need to stop using Tri-Luma cram for my melisma on my forehead if I get decide to get Botox? How long should I wait before and after the Botox injection? Is there any negative reactions to using it at the same time?

In my experience Tri-Luma and Botox work nicely together for hyperpigmentation. If you are already on tri-luma you can stop for one day prior to the Botox and restart 24 hours after getting the Botox injections if approved by your medical provider. In my experience Botox at the right concentration and placement has a nice lightening effect independent of Tri-Luma. If you are ever in Miami, Fl we would love to help out.

Tri-Luma is used to treat hyperpigmentation and melasma, and there is no need to stop it prior to any botulinum toxin (e.g. Botox, Dysport) treatment, nor with any filler treatment.

We usually do not tell patients to avoid using they topical creams before botox injections, but you may want to avoid using it for 1-2 days after; to avoid any risk of infection to the treated areas.

Hi Rene! You don't need to stop using your Tri-Luma cream if you decide to get Botox. There shouldn't be any interaction with the Botox. Now, you may get some increased irritation such as redness and peeling due to the Tri-Luma, but it shouldn't be overly bothersome. Hope this helps!
