Will getting a Botox brow lift help reduce horizontal forehead lines? (10 unit brow lift)

Horizontal lines on the forehead are a result of the frontalis muscle which helps pull the brow in a vertical direction. Depending on the injection pattern and desired effect the brow may be slightly adjusted. It is recommended you have a discussion with your treating provider on your desired results so that a treatment plan can be made.

Usually, Botox injection of the forehead as well as the medial brow, what we call the corrugator supercilii muscles, are done at the same time. The reason for this is that preventing the brow from lifting by walking the frontalis muscle within the forehead would lead to an unnatural appearance If not for blocking the corrugator muscle at the same time. Using Botox in these areas can lead to a smoothing of dynamic forehead lines. Forehead lines that are present without movement and be harder to treat. Sometimes peels can help with this but Botox alone unlikely to make them go entirely away

Thank you for your question. Botox is an excellent option for addressing horizontal forehead lines and lines between the eyebrows. When administered, the injections will specifically target facial muscles to reduce movement causing the undesired lines to appear.
Botox injections are often combined with dermal fillers to enhance results, provide a lifted appearance, and add volume where necessary. Neuromodulators (such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau) and soft tissue fillers like Belotero can improve the appearance of the forehead by reducing lines, wrinkles and folds. Deeper lines and wrinkles need a combination approach with Botox, fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP. Botox can help forehead lines when it is placed in the forehead. A botox brow lift alone will not help horizontal lines. Wherever you read that doing forehead and brows together is a bad idea is incorrect or at least misleading. Almost universally, I treat the glabella, forehead, and crows feet/brow lift at the same time, so the pull on the brows remains balanced and the brows continue to appear and move naturally.

The facial wirnkles, such as the horizontal "worry" lines across the forehead that result with the passage develop as a result of two processes: the motion of the underlying muscles of facial expression and the creasing or etching of the overlying fabric of skin that results from the use of those muscles hundreds to thousands of times per day year after year. So, to really address the problem, both the underlying cause and secondary damage need to be treated. Botox can quiet the underlying muscles and prevent further damage, and an appropriate HA filler can be used to elevate and smooth the etched-in lines that have already formed. Each treatment can be used, but the two in combination typically leads to a synergistic and longer duration of improvement than could be achieved using either treatment alone. I have actually personally using this approach since the early 1990s using Botox and collagen fillers and in the past fifteen years with the even better HA fillers that became available. When treating someone with Botox for the first time I recommend 3 areas (Glabella, Forehead, Crows Feet). Botox and Filler are two different things. When you treat the horizontal forehead lines you also have to treat the glabella to counteract the effect of the forehead Botox. Forehead and crow's feet at the same time is the best way to get a brow lift, it is all about placement of the medication. Hi there! Botox can be used to temporarily paralyze the muscles that pull the eyebrows down (the corrugators), therefore resulting in results that resemble a nonsurgical brow lift. Not only will this lift the brows, it’ll also reduce fine lines in the injected area, too. Your provider may also inject Botox along the orbicularis muscle around the eyes to open them up for a more “awake” look. Typically, if someone has hooded eyes a botox brow lift might lift them in a very subtle way, millimeters, if done correctly. Hooded eyes are often BEST addressed with an upper blepharoplasty by a surgeon, however many patients are satisfied with the appearance of the eye lids after receiving botox. The best way to achieve optimal lift with neurotoxin would be to treat the tails of the brows, the orbicularis muscle around the eyes (to open them up) and glabella between the brows (to lift). Horizontal wrinkles going ACROSS the forehead that your makeup is going into is a total separate muscle from anything mentioned above (Frontalis) and requires its own treatment with neurotoxin for optimal outcome. The frontalis muscle is a very important muscle in LIFTING the brows so overtreating this area can actually cause the opposite effect, so please go to an experienced injector (PA / NP) or physician.

For those that have heavy brows, its common for the frontalis to over compensate by lifting the brows off the eye lids which would result in horizontal lines across the forehead.
Using Botox for an eyebrow lift will relax the orbicularis oculi muscle (eye muscle) that traditionally pulls down on the frontalis allowing the natural strength of the frontalis muscle to pull up.
So getting an eyebrow lift can help to reduce the heavy brow look and could reduce the horizontal lines. Adding in the corrugators and procerus (11's) would provide a better lift.
