Thank you for your question! It's very interesting you asked this question. It seems as though the population of those wanting aesthetic procedures is getting older and older. Provided you are in good health and have been seen by your primary medical doctor, the chances of undergoing a tummy tuck and/or liposuction successfully are very high. While the healing process my take more time, you can still benefit from the procedure and enjoy your new shape. I just recently performed a Brazilian Butt Lift on a 68 and 67 year old woman!! They did great and look great. They have a zest for life and want to continue with an active lifestyle and continue the dating scene! You just need to make sure your health is good and that you get a full work up including potentially an EKG, stress test, and whatever else your physician needs to determine your risk to undergo surgery. I would say that you may be at an increased risk for blood clots that can be potentially life threatening, but there are methods to help prophylax against this from happening. Please speak to your surgeon to inquire more about age and surgical procedures. I hope this helps!!
Thanks for the question. There's no age limit or ideal age for Tummy Tuck. However, patients must be over 18 years of age.
Your health is definitely a bigger factor to consider than your age when it comes to tummy tuck surgery. If you are generally healthy both physically and mentally, you’re a candidate regardless of your age. Discuss your medical history and condition during your consultation with your surgeon. You’ll also be asked to do bloodwork and other routine lab tests to ensure you’re a suitable candidate.
Thank you for your question. Being 70 years old should not limit you from having a tummy tuck surgery. The most important factor is your overall health. If you are healthy, then you should be a candidate for surgery.
If your health is good, and you are a good candidate for the procedure, then being 70 years old is not prohibitive. You'll do just as well, and likely better than some of your younger cohorts. See attached web link for a 67 year old that had a TT and flew through it no problem. In fact, she came back to have her old silicone implants revised with a mastopexy. I hope this helps and thanks for sharing.
Hello and thank-you for your question.Safety is of the utmost importance in performing cosmetic surgery. Tummy tucks can be performed in individuals of all ages who are in good health. We frequently involve your personnel family physician or internist to check you to make sure that you are in good health and that the risk of complications is low. I have personally performed tummy tucks in 5 women in their 70's.It is very important to perform operations, such as tummy tuck, in the appropriate setting. To minimize the risk, I perform tummy tucks in a Certified Accredited Surgery Center with an overnight stay. I insist on a Board Certified Anesthesiologist to be in attendance. It is very important to follow all pre-operative and post-operative instructions to ensure a good result.I would recommend a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.Best regards, Andrew Lyos MD, FACS
Far more important than deciding if a tummy tuck is for you is the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon. Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let him explain why one technique may be better than another and if you need a tummy tuck. Many board certified plastic surgeons provide a free first time consult and you should take advantage of that!See the below link on some suggestions on finding the most qualified Plastic Surgeon for you!The best clients are patients who are healthy but have EXCESS SKIN OR FAT that does not respond to diet and exercise. Patients who have undergone SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT LOSS and have hanging skin. Women with loose skin and stretch marks FOLLOWING PREGNANCY, as in your case. Anyone with LOSS OF SKIN ELASTICITY. Patients who are unable to tighten the abdominal wall with exercise. If you have loose or sagging abdominal wall skin; often associated with relaxation of the anterior abdominal wall muscles (frequently secondary to multiple pregnancies)
Thank you for your question. If you are in good health, age is not a factor. I have had several patients in their 70's that have had a tummy tuck and have been very happy with their results. Be sure you see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Good luck!
Age is considered when weighing risks of anesthesia and surgery but your overall health and physical condition are more important. A person of any age who has a serious medical condition could be at higher risk than a healthy 70 year old. A detailed medical history and exam are required to evaluate you for a tummy tuck or liposuction. Please see a board certified plastic surgeon to learn about whether you are a good candidate for these operations.
Thank you for the question. Your age is absolutely not a contraindication to tummy tuck surgery; assuming you are in good health and a good candidate for the procedure you may have an excellent outcome with the procedure. Obtaining "medical clearance" from your family practitioner or internist will be a good idea.Generally speaking, the “ideal” patient for tummy tuck surgery is one who has completed pregnancies, is psycho socially/emotionally/financially stable, has an excellent social support system surrounding him/her, is capable of arranging enough recovery time, does not smoke and who has reached a long-term stable weight. Best wishes. Hopefully, your only regret will be not having had it done earlier in life. You may find the attached link, dedicated to tummy tuck surgery concerns, helpful to you as you learn more.
