Is it possible to only reduce the size of a hump while still keeping the nose humped? (Photos)

I’ve seen many photos of rhinoplasties with natural looking results but never one where its just a hump very slightly reduced? Is that type of surgery even possible? In the photo I provided the edit is basically pulling in the nose from the bump down to the tip (towards the face) so an overall size reduction, and also slightly smaller nostril length to match. I also know that the tip is often raised but is it possible not to do that either?

The short answer is yes &mdash; it is absolutely possible to reduce a dorsal hump only partially, leaving a soft, slightly convex profile rather than a perfectly straight or scooped bridge. This is often called a "conservative" or "preservation" rhinoplasty, and it can keep the nose in character with your face while softening the profile.
In practical terms, the surgeon shaves or "rasps" the bony and cartilaginous hump down by just a millimetre or two rather than taking it all the way flat. Modern dorsal preservation techniques can also lower the whole bridge slightly while maintaining its natural lines. The tip does not have to be rotated upward &mdash; tip projection and rotation are controlled separately from the bridge, so if you prefer your tip left as it is, that can be respected. A small alar (nostril) adjustment to match the new proportions, as you mentioned, is also straightforward.
The key is finding a surgeon comfortable with subtle, millimetric work who uses your photo simulation as a shared goal. Because thinner skin shows every change, a careful in-person examination of skin thickness and bone structure is the best way to confirm how conservative a reduction can be &mdash; and a photo simulation at that visit can map out the result before deciding on anything.
