When inverted v deformity is present, can cartilage be put back on the bone?

If you have inverted v deformity, can you fix it by restoring the cartilage on the nasal bone? I read that you usually use cartilage from the septum for that, but do you have to? Why wouldn't you be able to bring back the existing cartilage on the bone? Grateful for answers!
