I had Excel V laser on a vascular malformation around my left eye 5 days ago, is it normal for my face to be swollen?

I had normal expected swelling of the treated area for next 3 days. Day 4 & 5 (today) the entire left side of my face is swollen, not just eye area. Is this normal? Thank you.

It is fairly common to have swelling after Excel V laser, particularly if the entire face was treated. Around the eyes is always the worse. Sleeping with the head elevated for 2 days is helpful. Steroids sometimes help the swelling recede faster. Rosacea patients tend to swell more than most. A vascular malformation will swell even more than rosacea patients. It is nothing to worry about.

Its best to see your provider again and have them evaluate this. However depending on what arm of the laser they used ( the KTP or YAG) you normally have a week or more of swelling. Its likely that the swelling is dispersing down into the cheek area. See you doctor , when I have someone with a lot of swelling I offer steroid for a short course which helps as does ice compress
