I want to make sure that if i got the procedure, that I'd be able to rest easy knowing that the fat around my eyes were gone. It makes it hard to read, sometimes it hurts and it always creates a great strain around my eyes, upper and lower. If i got the it for upper and lower and for both eyes, what would be the average cost?
Answer: Blepharoplasty is the best solution for removing bags frmo around the eyes, but like all aging, they will eventually return Bags under the eyes are not fatty growths that develop under the skin. The eyes are very delicate organs, so they are surrounded by a thick cushion of fat. When we "remove" the bags, we aren't really removing ALL the fat, only the fat that is protruding, since the fat goes all the way to the back of the eye socket. As we age, the fat will continue to herniate out. It should take at least 8 to 10 years or more to get to where you were before surgery and you may never get that bad. But we do age and facial structures and skin continues to sag as we age. The cost varies depending on what is specifically being done.

Answer: Blepharoplasty and fat In most blepharoplasty surgeries done these days, there is significantly less fat removed than in the past. If you are having discomfort around the eyes, it is not due to the fat. In an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, the fat pad near the nose is the one that is commonly either trimmed or moved more into the center part of the lid. It is possible that you will notice more fat in this area as you age but usually not for many years. In the lower eyelid the fat is either trimmed or repositioned. This should give you a smooth contour for many years. You may get some fat protrusion in the future, especially in the outer corner of the lower lid.

Answer: Is blepharoplasty a permanent solution? Hello and congrats on an excellent question. An upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) removes excess skin and sometimes fat pads. It allows one to look 'less tired' and could improve vision especially in the upward gaze. A lower blepharoplasty partially removes some of the three fat pads and mild skin laxity. You would then not have 'bags' under your eyes. In most instances, lower blepharoplasty is only required once, however, there are those who have it redone many years later. Studies have shown that you could actually grow more fat in the fat pads as well as have aging occur that pushes the fat pads out more. It is also not unusual to remove more skin from the upper lids years later as well due to continued aging of the face and skin.

Answer: Blepharoplasty and fat removal Our faces are constantly changing from birth into old age. The bone structure, fat compartments and skin all change. Therefore, surgery and all cosmetic procedures, while creating some permanent change to the structure of the face does not account for continued aging. When fat is removed, only the amount "bulging" at the time is removed, not all the fat around the eye so that depending upon how you age, more fat bulges might appear over the years. That being said, it is rare to need continued fat removal. Most of the additional fat that appears may be related to changes in the bone and surrounding structures of the eyes and cosmetic improvement is often better achieved with fillers or other procedures to tighten, reshape or lift. These days we realize that much of the bulging of fat that we see in the lower eyelids is a result of volume loss in the cheek and other areas and many patients are advised NOT to remove the bulges but rather address the volume loss in other areas (which makes the bulges no longer visible). Because of all these options, each patient is unique in what is going to provide them with the most natural appearing and longest lasting result so going to a specialist who is very experienced with cosmetic procedures around the eyes is your best chance for achieving the best result. Check their training and have them show you photos.
