Should I start filling Nasal Folds at 22 or will they look worse over time? (Photo)

22 is not too young. I actually started my daughters-in-law at age 19 as preventative treatment with fillers and Botox. This is known as PREJUVENATION. It is believed that the earlier prejuvenation is undertaken, the less likely will be the need for more aggressive surgical interventions down the road, and even if requried, the later they will be needed. Treatment with natural HA fillers (as opposed to permanent fillers--which I do NOT recommend), since they are metabolically removed with time, allows for additional appropriate corrections to be made down the road when age-related changes in volume and skin structure inevitably occur. You would be wise to make certain to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and best of luck.

I recommend fillers to soften the nasolabial folds themselves and also lift around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. In our practice we combine Sculptra with other fillers "layered" on top and lasers, skin tightening treatments such as Thermage, Fractora, and Renuvion (J Plasma), thread lifting, and peels to get the most conservative, natural look. Fillers are a great tool to improve the appearance of nasal labial folds and should give you a nice result. This will not prevent natural aging nor will it make it worse. We encourage patients to use medical grade skin care products such as Transform MD and to wear sunscreen every day to keep skin looking healthy.

Based on the 1 posted photo I agree with HA fillers to NL folds, 1-2 syringes of Vollure (Fee$1,500). Or try nano fat grafting (Fee$2,500). I do not use threading since there are more potential complications. Best to virtual with.....

The reason that you see your nasolabial folds after weight loss is that you have lost volume in your midface or cheek and the skin has dropped over your nasolabial fold.

The proper procedure is to have dermal fillers placed into the midface or cheek region to re-volume eyes the cheek and lift the cheek and lessen the appearance of the nasolabial fold.

I use Restylane lift for this but Voluma also works well.
