I had a full TT 2 weeks ago and am managing to stand upright for most of the day. I have been going out to the shops recently just to get out of the house and have a very tight pulling sensation, especially on the right side of my lower abdomen, when I walk. Is the normal or am I over doing things? I'm worried that I'm putting tension on my incision/ abdominals.
Answer: It is quite normal to have these sensations 2 weeks after a tummy tuck. It is quite normal to have these sensations 2 weeks after a tummy tuck and it is not unheard of to feel tight to months following surgery. Standing upright at that point is also quite normal. However, let your body be your guide and if you feel something feels abnormal, back off and have a visit to your plastic surgeon.

Answer: Pulling Sensation after #Tummy Tuck For most the “pulling sensation” is perfectly normal. Your abdomen will feel tight for a month or longer. If you have had a muscle repair as well (the usual case), you will feel the most tightness down the center of your tummy where the doctor has actually repaired your muscles.Following surgery, you walk in a bent-over position to keep tension off the newly tightened skin incision site. Softening of the surgical scars, return of sensation, and loosening of the tight sensation may take several months to a year or more.Abdominoplasty involves a recovery period of 10 to 14 days longer than most plastic surgical procedures. Initial discomfort and decreased mobility is typical. You will be encouraged to move and walk regularly starting the day of surgery. Light activity is comfortable in 10-20 days. No sports or heavy lifting for 6 weeks or more – please discuss with your plastic surgeon for specific questions.

Answer: Tightness and Pulling Sensation after Tummy Tuck 2 weeks after a tummy tuck is still very early in the healing phase. In fact some women still cannot stand completely upright at 2 weeks due to the tightness of the tummy tuck closure, and their own body's impulse to protect the incision. Therefore, the tight pulling sensation that you feel is to be expected at times when you walk. Definitely, try not to overdo it, and if the right lower abdomen feels uncomfortable then you may want to bend at the hips from time to time to relieve this discomfort. The good news is that with time this sensation will disappear, but it could take a couple more weeks. Thanks for sharing.

Answer: Pulling sensation when walking after a Tummy Tuck Thank you for the question. You are very early in the healing process at this point. Healing from surgery will take time. In the initial phase after surgery, within the first three months, there is a period of inflammation and scarring that must occur in order for you to heal. During this time you can experience different sensations such as, pulling, tightness or spasms, burning, swelling, etc. Over ensuing months these processes will subside and the inflammatory process gives way to scar softening and remodeling, as that occurs, These sensations we'll begin to subside and lessen in both frequency and intensity. At this point I would recommend continued close follow up with your plastic surgeon as they are in the best position to evaluate and treat you during your post operative recovery. This will allow you and your surgeon the chance to discuss what is normal and what could be a possible complication. Good communication with your surgeon should help allay any anxieties you may be experiencing.I hope this helps. Best of luck.
