Is it safe for the glue to be coming off 5 days after the surgery? (photos)

Hello, thanks for your question. Definitely give your surgeon a call, but most incisions will be fine after 5 days. Different types of glues stay on for different periods of time, but it is normal for it to start to 'flake' off at some point. Don't soak in a tub or submerse the incision in water. Other than that, showering should be okay, and just be sure to let your surgeon know. Congratulations on your surgery, and best of luck in healing. Ross Blagg, M.D. 

As long as you don't soak in a tub or pool, or use antibiotic ointment or lotion on your incisions, you likely should not worry too much about your glue coming off. There are many different types of skin glue, and some can look a bit more crumbly or change color when exposed to water. Showering with glue in place is very much OK. I would call your surgeon and ask if this is concerning - most of the time it is not. There is suture under your incisions holding them together, so be assured that your incisions will not fall apart just because the glue appears to be peeling up.
