A hematoma post buccal fat pad extraction or a more serious injury? (Photo)

Question

I had the procedure done this afternoon. I have had a severe swelling and stiffness on my right cheek immexiatelly after that and all the bruising and local firmness and partial immobility at the moment. Blood was drenaiged after that by the doctor and I also had a steroid injectionbut you can see this treatments didn't help a lot. Desperate to know where this problem comes from!

Hi Sylvia,Thanks for your question and photos. If it has been drained and swelling persists without discoloration it may be a sialocele or swelling from injury to the parotid duct. Hematomas are a risk to any surgery. Warm compresses help and try avoiding foods that stimulate your parotid gland. I hope that things have healed since your surgery.
