When I smile my nose just sort of elongates, how can this be fixed? (Photos)

I’ve been very self conscious about my nose recently and I notice it is really...’there’ when I smile. The base of my nose is quite droopy in my opinion and when I smile, my nostrils pull back a bit and my nose just overall gets pulled down and makes it look really big. Would someone be able to explain what is actually the deal with this please? Thanks!

Your nose could be improved with rhinoplasty, which would give permanent improvements in symmetry and shape. You can bring the photos of noses that you think would be flattering to your face and these can be discussed. When you meet with a facial plastic surgeon, he or she will consider your nose in balance with your other features. I hope this helps.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your
photograph, you may benefit from a cephalic rotation
of your tip to turn up your tip slightly and a columellar strut graft to help give your nasal tip more support.  Your depressor nasi septi muscles can also be released from your septum, which can help prevent your nose from drooping when you smile.  Make sure you specifically look at
before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed
by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system.
The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I
recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic
surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
