The risks are a lot higher in revision rhinoplasty and typically surgeons have to spend a lot of time in the operating room and also in the healing phase with the patient. That added time adds to the cost. RegardsDr. Janjua
Revision rhinoplasty is often very complex and more difficult to perform than primary rhinoplasty. ...
In our practice, revision rhinoplasty usually takes longer to perform than primary rhinoplasty due to the fact that additional cartilage grafts may be required to be harvested from the ear, or the nose. Since the cost of a rhinoplasty is directly determined by time in the operative room and time under anesthesia, it will naturally be more expensive, since it takes longer to perform. For more information, many before-and-after examples of revision rhinoplasty and our current price list for primary and revision rhinoplasty, please see the link and the video below
Revision surgery is commonly more expensive due to a number of factors. The main reason is that revision surgery, of almost any kind, is more difficult and time consuming than primary surgery. There is more scar tissue, less original structure, and usually a new problem which was created by the initial surgery. There is also a smaller population of qualified revision rhinoplasty surgeons around when compared to surgeons who are performing primary nasal surgery. Best of luck
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. In general, revisions are more expensive because the cases are significantly more challenging, and the dangers of incorrectly addressing the issue are greater. Of course, you will need an in-person consultation to evaluate you for this procedure. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. Any treatment plan should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation in person with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck! Seven months after a rhinoplasty is too early to consider a revision. Especially since you have thicker skin anyway. I would recommend that at this time you ask your surgeon about measures that can be taken to reduce swelling. This might include taping of the nose, massage and steroid injections...
A full set of pics and an exam are required to make any determination about what can be accomplished due to scar tissue and previous surgical alterations to the normal anatomy
