Question

I'm 32 with 2 children and I wear a 30b/32a bra. I'm 98lbs and 5'1 I want a natural look and feel while increasing in size as much as my frame can handle. My ideal size would be a 32d. After measuring the surgeon suggested 350cc implants. He said if 350 was not big enough we could possibly go to 400 to achieve a d cup however the cup size is not as important to me as maintaining a natural appearance. Will 350cc high profile mentor memory gel implants give me the desired look of full c small d?

The 350cc may well be enough to achieve your desired size and look, but you should take several different tops to your PS office and try on the implant sizers in a surgical bra- then you can really choose the correct size to achieve your goals!

Breast implants are sized according to their volume in cubic centimeters (cc).

How do you know what size implant to choose? Looking at pictures and talking to friends who had a breast augmentation might help.

Off course the volume will depend on the shape and size of your actual breasts, your frame and the size you want to achieve.

Our plastic surgeon will advise you thoroughly. Bringing pictures of a desired restult to be shown to our surgeon, might be very helpful.

breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

None of the modalities to approximate final results from breast implants are 100% accurate; they merely facilitate the patient and the board certified PS concurring on the size, profile, and type of breast implant which will come the closest to reaching the patient's goal.
My patients prefer to try on implant sizers under garments they typically wear (workout tops, bikini, tight sweater, low cut dress) to determine if they fit as expected and help allay some of their trepidation associated with this decision. I would recommend that you go with the size that boosts your self-esteem, and fits your anatomy. It's unlikely that you will notice a difference in increments less than 100. Breast IMPLANT size has nothing to do with BRA cup size - which varies with each bra manufacturer. The average implant volume placed in the US is 350cc. A very general estimate is that one cup size is 150 to 200 cc of volume, but realize that no direct correlation exists between the two.

At size 32, each 100 cc of implant corresponds to 1 cup size change. 350 cc implants will get you beyond a D. If you only desire a C then you could get by with 200 cc implants. I recommend smaller implants as they are more stable mechanically and will last longer.

I think your surgeon is correct in suggesting 350cc which should give you a nice full C. At 5'1" 98 lbs trying to go up to a 400cc is too much for your frame. Good luck.

Thank you for your question and photographs. I think you are starting from an excellent position and should anticipate a nice result. Breast implant selection is an exciting, but stressful part of the breast augmentation process as there are so many choices. Unfortunately it is impossible to recommend the best implant style, size or shape without an in-person examination that allows for the measurement of key breast parameters, as well as permits an in-depth discussion as to your desired goals and outcome. I would recommend seeing additional board certified plastic surgeons to ensure that the implants you decide upon are the right ones to meet your expectations. It sounds as if it may be wise for you to "try on" several of the implants so that you can have a better visual representation as to what they would look like. Each bra manufacturer also employs different sizing measurements so it is impossible to correlate an implant's cc size with a final cup size. Best wishes!

I do not believe 350 cc implants will get you to a D cup. But what one person thinks is a D another person thinks is a C, so it all depends on what appearance you’re looking for. If you tried on implants in your doctors office and that was the size you like, than that is the size you would go with. If you have not tried on implants, I think you will not be happy with just 350 mL if you want him to be a D.

I am concerned about your desires???!  You are 5'1" and 98 pounds and desire a "D" cup...this is not too natural.
The use of a High Profile (HP) implant on you is appropriate for your width (I assume), however, HP implants are rarely "natural" in appearance.
You are the perfect candidate for a transaxillary silicone breast augmentation.  The size and shape of your implant I would decide based on naked wish pics you supply, which allow me to see exactly what you consider "natural" .
