I have a ruptured saline implant. It has become painful, and turned into a hard mass. I have medicaid insurance, however I was told that they would not cover the implant removal. What is the cost to have just the saline implants removed. That is all I want...

A rupture saline implant should not cause pain.It is also rare to see a mass. I suggest you  be evaluatedby a board certified plastic surgeon in your area. They willadvise you of cost and any other findings.

With saline implants you have the option of having the implants deflated in the office to allow the skin to begin retracting and the tissue to begin healing.  You can then have the implant shells removed at a later time.  Costs will vary by surgeon and location. I am sorry to hear about the problem you are experiencing. Costs of this type of surgery will vary from one practice to another and will depend mainly on exactly what procedure is being performed. For example, some patients who have breast implants removed will also require capsulectomy and/or breast lifting performed at the same time. Additional procedures performed (if necessary), requiring additional time, will likely increase costs. It is important in order to regain your health and not have complications, to have the entire capsule removed along with appropriate antibiotics and sometimes antifungals as the biofilm around the implant can contain both.  Most surgeons are not very familiar with treatment of the biofilm at the level.  The cost of explantation is usually around $6000 for the average case although costs may increase if the explantation take longer than the usual time as OR and anesthesia fees are based on time.
