My Dr mentioned that I can do skin tightening either before or after the procedure-vaser lipo, which will be performed on my abdomen and transfer fats to my buttocks. isn't vaser lipo a skin tightening method after the suction of fats from the body or what exactly does it do? should I go to another Dr for second assessment? Please advise
Answer: Skin after Vaser liposuction Hi, thank you for providing photo! For your guidance, loose, sagging, or inelastic #skin are problems which would tend towards poor results in liposuction. In fact, these problems may be worsened and may be best addressed by other procedures such as a leg or body lift (e.g. tummy tuck) in conjunction with liposuction. Also, excess skin would usually shrink back over the area of the body, but liposuction is used to reduce volume not tighten skin. It may somewhat tighten the skin a little bit but Vaser's main purpose is to remove unwanted fat. However, if tummy tuck is not an option, there are non surgical devices such as #ThermiSmooth radiofrequency and #VelaShape3 (visit web reference below) to help tighten skin after liposuction for patients who will benefit from this additional care. Thermi alone won't remove all your unwanted fat and Vaser alone won't tighten skin after fat is removed. You have options of doing Vaser together with tummy tuck or any skin tightening procedure, or do the tightening procedures after Vaser. Please remember you may have to wait at least 6 months or when incisions are fully healed before you undergo another surgery. Discuss realistic expectations with a board-certified plastic surgeon. #RealSelf100

Answer: Skin Tightening after VASER Thank you for your question. Your re correct in that, the VASEr can be used to accomplish skin tightening. The VASER itself is not skin tightening, but how it is used does affect skin tightening. For skin tightening to be accomplished, superficial liposuction needs to be accomplished to actively promote skin tightening. This isn't to say that you won't see a bit of tightening without this technique. Basically there are two layers of fat, the deep fat and the superficial fat. Many surgeons were trained to take out only the deep fat when doing what was called suction-assisted liposuction (SAL; cannula liposuction). VASER made is possible to more safely go into the superficial fat layer were skin tightening can be much more aggressively pursued. The amount of skin, the sun damage, the age, and the quality of the skin are all also factors the will affect the amount of skin tightening you will see. At a certain point you become less of a candidate for liposuction, even with superficial technique, and at that point you move into the category of needing a tummy tuck, etc.

Answer: Skin retraction post Vaser Thank you for your question and a photo.Skin tightening and retraction and contours after any liposuction or sculpting procedure depends on following:-if you skin of good elasticity and thickness or already lax, thin and stretched.-volume of fat is being removed (obviously if a lot of fat needs to be removed skin has to retract more.-Muscle tone-Patient wearing appropriate compression and post-operative care (massage etc)Vaser itself like any liposuction will induce some degree of skin retraction but it is not specifically designed for retracting skin.Your probably meant that you might benefit form abdominoplasty to deal with possible excess skin and laxity of connective tissues..
